When taking on a new building project, the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) would recommend involving all key project members, including major contractors, from the start of conceptual development. With the owner's involvement, all disciplines will design concurrently, frequently collaborating to align with required configurations and budgets. The key members work together through completion. The objective is to maximize value to the customer while eliminating the need for change orders (waste).
